Nisha Krishnan - Empowering Women Through ShePower
Nisha Krishnan, a renowned journalist and founder of channeliam.com, is the driving force behind the impactful initiative, ShePower. Her visionary approach led to the implementation of She Power vision series, a transformative project that aimed to empower women entrepreneurs, startups, and women in technology. In 2020 and 2021, Nisha was awarded a grant by the US State Department, followed by her participation in the prestigious International Visitor Leadership Program organised by the US State Department in Washington, DC.
A woman of great determination and passion, Nisha Krishnan, attended the esteemed Alumni Thematic International Exchange Seminar (TIES) on Women in Media: Creating Networks for Social Change in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Her dedication to empowering women and fostering their growth led to the development of workshops, training sessions, summits, and hackathons as part of the ShePower project. These programs were specifically designed to uplift women across India and offer them opportunities to thrive in their respective fields.
Nisha embarked on her illustrious career as a broadcast journalist in 2002, rapidly ascending to become one of South India’s most dedicated and popular female journalists. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to journalism, she was honoured with the Laadly Award in 2008, an esteemed accolade established by Population First in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund. Moreover, her exemplary television news reports earned her the prestigious Kerala State Media Award in 2011.
Throughout her remarkable journey, Nisha Krishnan’s efforts have been acknowledged with several prestigious awards, including the Indian Medical Association Award and the Dr. Ambedkar Award. Her relentless pursuit of empowering women and fostering gender equality has inspired countless individuals and is a testament to her unwavering commitment to creating a more inclusive and progressive society.
